Leanne Thomas likes to have a laugh and tell people that the baby she is expecting is not her husband’s. When people prick their ears, as they inevitably do, she informs them that the baby is not hers, either.
Leanne is a surrogate mother for her friends, Emily and Steve. She was implanted with Emily and Steve’s embryo, which was created through in-vitro fertilisation. Like she explained it to her mother “it’s their ingredients in my oven.”
“People always ask me, how much do you get for that? But I’m not doing this for the money – I’m doing it to give them a baby. I’m making another couple happy and giving Emily what she can’t produce,” Leanne says.
