Chances of success with a Vasectomy Reversal
Vasectomies can be reversed even after long periods of time. However, the success of the reversal, in terms of achieving a pregnancy, is dependent upon the surgeons technique, the age and fertility status of the female partner, and the length of time since the vasectomy.
If you are considering having a vasectomy reversal, the best thing you can do is come in and see one of our specialists. We have experts in Microsurgery – the most successful technique available to reverse vasectomy and optimise the chance of restoring fertility.
Success factor: duration of time since vasectomy
The biggest study on vasectomy reversal showed. If the interval between vasectomy and the reversal was:
- Less than 3 years – 75% of couples achieved a pregnancy.
- 3-8 years – 50% of couples achieved a pregnancy.
- 9-14 years – 40 % of couples achieved a pregnancy.
- More than 14 years – 30 % of couples achieved a pregnancy.
Other factors that influence success include whether or not sperm are present in the vas fluid expressed at the time of the operation.
