Dr Andrew Murray

A leader in the field of fertility, Andrew is known for his extensive fertility knowledge and caring approach.
Andrew has a special interest in the role of surgery in fertility treatment including advanced laparoscopy and operative hysteroscopy. He is also trained in tubal microsurgery and performs reversal of sterilizations and vasectomies. Andrew also has a keen interest in fertility preservation.
Andrew has a strong commitment to bringing world leading technology to his patients and has piloted several initiatives including the introduction of outpatient hysteroscopy, time lapse photography for embryo selection, pre-implantation genetic screening, endometrial scratching, and the role of acupuncture in fertility medicine. Improving the patient experience is a particular interest for Andrew, and he is driving several initiatives at Fertility Associates focusing on that.
He has played an active role in the governance of fertility and gynaecology practice, serving two terms on the RANZCOG NZ Committee, and more recently two terms on the board of the Fertility Society of Australia. Andrew runs his private practice from our Wellington clinic, where he sees gynaecology and infertility patients.
Andrew is a regular media spokesperson on all fertility related issues and writes a regular conception/fertility article in Oh Baby magazine.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, having originally trained in New Zealand he completed a two-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Monash IVF, Melbourne, Australia. Andrew currently is a Senior Lecturer at Wellington School of Medicine, University of Otago teaching undergraduate students reproductive medicine and is one of the Consultant Gynaecologists at Capital and Coast Health, Wellington Hospital. Andrew has a passion for learning and is currently working towards an MBA. In his spare time he enjoys hitting the mountain bike tracks and enjoying time with his family, including 3 sons.

Dr Simon McDowell

Caring and experienced, Simon takes pride in every aspect of patient care. He has a passion for trying to find what the problem is, and works with his patients to determine what course of treatment will best suit their needs. His care focuses on preserving a woman’s fertility when gynaecological disorders such as endometriosis and fibroids are impacting.
Patient communications is a strength of Simon’s, when fertility treatment can appear complex, he takes the time to ensure his patients understand what to expect, every step of the way.
Simon has a special interest in the laparoscopic management of menstrual disorders, female infertility, and pelvic pain including endometriosis.
Simon has trained extensively in New Zealand and Australia. He holds a Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, the highest qualification for Fertility Specialists in Australia and New Zealand. He has also completed an AGES fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery, with a focus on surgical management of endometriosis and infertility.
Simon sees fertility and gynaecology patients at our Wellington clinic. He also works Wellington Public Hospital and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago.
Simon has 2 young children and enjoys the outdoor lifestyle Wellington offers.

Mark is a fertility specialist with extensive clinic experience; he is well regarded and highly respected in his field. Mark's areas of special interest include the investigation and treatment of male factor infertility and the techniques of testicular sperm retrieval. Mark completed his initial medical training in South Africa and his specialist obstetrics and gynaecology training in Cape Town. Mark undertook additional specialist training in Reproductive Medicine at Bristol in the United Kingdom.
Mark also practices as a specialist obstetrician/gynaecologist in Whanganui.

Experienced and caring Jill has over 30 years experience and is extremely personable and well liked by her patients.
Jill has a wide interest in Women’s Health from fertility to menopause. With over 20 years experience, in her own private General Practice Jill has delivered 1000s of babies and now enjoys helping the team at Fertility Associates.
Jill provides fertility procedures and scans in partnership with the specialists at our Wellington Clinic.
In her spare time Jill loves to attend the International Arts festival, enjoys her garden and her cat family of 3.
